jebdunnuck.com, May 2023

(96-98 points) I was blown away by the quality of the 2022 Château Barde-Haut, and this 80/20 split of Merlot and Cabernet Franc does everything right in the vintage. Revealing a deep purple hue as well as stunning...

(94-96 points) Flowers, leafy herbs, spice, black raspberries, a touch of espresso, and licorice open the nose. On the palate, the first thing you notice is the silky texture. There is intensity, freshness, elegance, and...

Vinous, May 2023

(VN 94-96 points) The 2022 Barde-Haut is gorgeous. Rich and explosive, the 2022 offers up copious notes of blueberry jam, crème de cassis, lavender, mint and licorice, with pretty jasmine overtones that add exotic...

jamessuckling.com, April 2023

(JS 94-95 points) A velvety red with lovely creamy tannins, juicy fruit with black berries, spice, ink and boysenberry. Medium to full body with a solid structured and depth. Velvety texture. Hints of sea salt.

Inky colour, clear floral aromatics, this is charming and enticiting, with polish and finesse. Love the confident grip of the tannins, that hold the fruit but know just when to let go and let the creamy blueberry and...

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, April 2023

Chateau Barde-Haut is a 17-hectare estate located at the extreme east of the village of Saint-Emilion with its vineyard forming a natural amphitheater with a southern exposure. The soil is very typical of Saint-Emilion, mainly composed of clay which on a layer of chalk.

The property was bought in 2000 by Sylviane Garcin-Cathiard, whose family also owns Clos L’Eglise in Pomerol, Chateau Haut-Bergey and Chateau Branon in Pessac Leognan. Significant investments have been made in the cellar and all work is done by gravity to ensure the grapes are well respected.

Chateau Barde-Haut was promoted to Grand Cru Classe in the 2012 classification of Saint-Emilion wine and is one of the rising stars of Saint-Emilion.

Chateau Barde-Haut is a blend of Merlot (85%) and Cabernet Franc (15%) from vines with an average age of 35 years. Fermentation takes place in a combination of wooden vats, concrete vats and stainless steel tanks. The vines are hand-picked and aged for 18 months in 100% new French oak barrels.
