The wine is aged 16 months in French oak at roughly half new barrels, and it comes in at 14.2% alcohol. Production has been reported at about 21,000 cases, positioning it as a flagship, widely available Anderson Valley bottling rather than a tiny-lot curio.

Critics largely agree on a style built around ripe red fruit, tea-like spice, and an intentionally smooth texture. Wine Enthusiast delivers the strongest review at an excellent 94 points, calling it “a classic expression of Pinot Noir” and noting that “although the vintage was cool, with some heat spikes and rain,” the winery “still managed to produce a dynamic supple, red-berried, crushed herb dynamo.” Reviewer Tonya Pitts highlights “remnants of oolong black tea on the nose” and flavors of “strawberry, blood orange zest, and maple with a silky finish.”

James Suckling rates it 92 points and frames it as both classic and polished: “A pretty wine with classic flavors and an elegant texture,” with “red tea, cherries, black tea and cinnamon” leading into “a silky palate of red cherries, strawberries and a touch of rhubarb.” He also notes “light tannins, a full body and subtle oak nuances,” despite the significant new French oak.

Decanter’s 91-point review leans into the wine’s darker spice and savory edges, citing “sasparilla and cola” over “rich red and black berries,” plus “tart notes of blood orange” and “smoky hints of leather and spice,” finishing with “a coastal saline minerality.” Decanter suggests a 2025–2030 window, while Suckling says, simply, “Drink now.”
