Domaine Tollot-Beaut et Fils’ 2023 Corton-Bressandes Grand Cru is a Pinot Noir from the east-facing “Les Bressandes” climat on the Corton hill in Aloxe-Corton. The domaine, based in Chorey-lès-Beaune, has been in the Tollot family for five generations and has bottled under its own name since 1921. Today, under Nathalie Tollot, it works with sustainable, lutte raisonnée viticulture and draws on a high proportion of old Pinot Fin vines across its holdings.

In 2023, the wine is already attracting excellent early and in-bottle reviews. Vinous’ Neal Martin rates it 95 (from a 93–95 band), calling it “a ‘fluid’ Corton-Bressandes, harmonious with a commendably precise, fresh, licorice-tinged finish,” and adds: “Hunt this down—a superb Corton-Bressandes.” Martin notes “neatly integrated 50% new oak” and “just a touch of reduction at the moment,” suggesting a wine still settling into place but already showing clarity and balance.

Wine Spectator’s Bruce Sanderson also awards an excellent 95, describing a style that leans more to finesse than brute power: “Graceful and silky,” with “raspberry, cherry, kirsch, rose and mineral aromas and flavors.” Sanderson highlights that “the firm structure emerges” with air and time, leading to “the long, complex aftertaste,” and he frames its outlook clearly: “Best from 2030 through 2049.” Importantly for buyers, he reports limited availability: “25 cases imported.”

Jasper Morris (Inside Burgundy) is close behind at 94 (92–94), emphasizing color and breadth: “A rich imperial purple with a classy nose,” and a palate that “swells,” with “plump red fruit but fine as well.” He notes the fruit “absolutely covering the framework,” with “just a touch of ripe fruit to finish.”

Overall, the 2023 reads as a poised, ageworthy Corton-Bressandes: aromatic, fruit-driven, and structured, with oak kept in a supporting role and the best reviews pointing to both intensity and precision.
