DuMOL’s 2023 MacIntyre Estate Vineyard Pinot Noir is a small-production, single-vineyard wine from the far western Sonoma Coast, built around concentration and structure rather than overt sweetness or showiness. The fruit was harvested October 2–3, 2023, and the wine was matured for 11 months in 33% new French oak, with 975 cases made, according to Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate. Vinous also notes the wine is “all Calera clone” and “100% destemmed,” underscoring the deliberate, detail-driven approach here.

Critical reception is notably strong, led by an excellent 98-point review from James Suckling, who calls it “so pure, vibrant and concentrated,” with dark berries, black cherry and “bitter oranges,” and adds that it’s “drinkable now, but best from 2030.” Jeb Dunnuck’s 97-point review is similarly emphatic on texture and integration, describing “a textured, layered, precise red” with “silty, beautifully melted tannins,” and noting it is “so integrated.” Dunnuck also reports the wine is “from organically grown grapes” and suggests, “Try after 2027.”

A consistent theme across reviewers is a mix of ripe fruit depth with savory accents. In a 97-point assessment, Antonio Galloni (Vinous) writes the wine is “dense and packed to the core,” with “tremendous density from start to finish,” and says that while it’s “rather somber” today, it is “far more complete than the 2022,” with “savory overtones” lingering on the close. Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate (96 points) highlights more non-fruit complexity—“charcuterie and flint”—before moving into blueberry, pomegranate, aniseed and cedar, concluding with “luxuriously silky tannins and vibrant acidity” and a “very long, kaleidoscopic finish.”

Wine Enthusiast (96 points) emphasizes lift and perfume—black cherry, roses, cinnamon and sage—and calls it “delicious now,” while still advising patience (2028–2040).
