Cristal’s reputation as one of the world’s finest Champagnes has exploded into the mainstream consciousness over the past three decades, but the quality of the wine in Louis Roederer’s top bottling has remained unchanged for over a century. The 2004 Cristal is another in a long line of successes and we have it today for the best price around.
A “powerful, structured Cristal” (WA97pts) with “explosive” energy and “saturated with flavor” (W&S97pts), there's unanimous praise for the 2004 Cristal. The universal critical acclaim is no surprise, as the exceptional vintage conditions allowed Roederer to source ideal grapes from the finest sites in Champagne and deliver a more explosive version of what is usually classed as an elegant sparkler. The resultant balance in 2004 is astounding.
Roederer is the largest independent, family owned Champagne house and it’s namesake, Louis Roederer first handcrafted Cristal in the 1847 vintage, serving it twenty years later to the Tsar of Russia. Such was its popularity among those present that it went into full production thereafter. The assemblage of 60% Pinot Noir (without the skins) and 40% Chardonnay sees little variation, and only optimal vintages will see Cristal produced.
Galloni declared the 2004
a “truly great, monumental Champagne” and we are delighted to offer it to you at a terrific price. This is an absolute can’t miss vintage for Cristal that will cellar for decades. Cheers!
