2010 Delille Cellars Grand Ciel
by JJ Buckley Fine Wines
On Sale $99.94 (reg. $124.94/ Online Avg. $131)
The 2010 Delille Cabernet Sauvignon Grand Ciel is a true example of Washington State at its best and you will rarely see this wine from any vintage go for under $100. We were lucky to nab a few cases of this "serious" effort with a few years of bottle age, but they're unlikely to last for long.
Grand Ciel, adjacent to Ciel du Cheval and Galitzine, is in some prime real estate on Red Mountain (think Quilceda Creek, Force Majeure and other Washington State cult darlings), and the cooler 2010 vintage allowed for classic, precise and long-lived Cabs to be crafted. Vinous awards the vintage 95-points overall, enamored by the wines that "are fresh and firm, with an acid spine that should support a long evolution in bottle." Noted critic Stephen Tanzer suggests that 2010 will definitely appeal to "wine lovers with a European bent..."
If you drink old-school Cabernet at this price level from Napa or Left Bank Bordeaux, you're going to want to get a piece of this. Cheers!
