"I’ve yet to see these guys put a foot wrong, and regardless of the vintage, they’re able to make superb wines." - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
Declared one of the “world’s greatest wine estates” by Robert Parker, Domaine de la Mordoree has a long track record making world-class wine in Chateauneuf du Pape, and it’s always exciting when we are able to secure a wine like this for the best price around.
A long time fan of the estate, Parker awarded this same cuvee 100-points back in 2001. Though 2013 did not enjoy the same superior vintage conditions, Domaine de la Mordoree succeeded in turning out “one of the wines of the vintage," per the Wine Advocate, "which is no surprise as this estate always excels in the more challenging vintages." Now, with a few years in the bottle, critics like those at the Wine Advocate consider 2013 “an old-school styled” year with some standout efforts from the better estates.
So what does a generally overlooked vintage in Chateauneuf mean for this wine? Well, a more favorable price compared to other years for starters, and for a terrific price on this flagship cuvee, now is a great time to lock in a wine that wows critics and enthusiasts alike. Cheers!
