"Vincent Geantet’s wines are very reliable and good value"
- Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
Domaine Geantet-Pansiot may have only formed in the 1950s, but there are few producers we would so immediately think of as ‘old-school’ as this one. With only 13ha of vines, Geantet-Pansiot single grand cru holding happens to be in the absolute best part of Charmes-Chambertin. Geantet-Pansiot has been quietly turning out one of the most reasonably priced expressions of this celebrated grand cru for decades, and most of it gets snapped up by the UK. With so little continuing on across the Atlantic, we were very excited to secure a stock of this beautiful and unpretentious grand cru, and at the best price for any vintage stateside. It will drink just as a fine Charmes-Chambertin ought to, and develop for decades in the cellar; what more can we ask for in great Burgundy?
The 2013 Charmes Chambertin is a picture-perfect example of the cru and earned 93-points from the hard to please Burghound for its “complex nose” of “spice, menthol, earth, humus and very fresh assortment of dark berry fruit.” The 2013, from 60+-year-old vines, is "impressive" per the Wine Advocate, with a dense but elegant profile.
The Geantet-Pansiot Charmes-Chambertin is a thrilling Burgundy at an unbeatable price and a must-have for the cellar. Given how rarely a good stock of this gets past the UK, we highly recommend stocking up on some of the classically styled 2013 and enjoying it over the next 20+ years! Cheers!
