2013 Mendel 'Unus'

On Sale $39.94 (reg. $44.94)
There aren’t many regions that can offer a 95-point red blend for under 40 bucks, but we’ll put our money on Argentina. The 2013 Mendel ‘Unus’ from Mendoza is a phenomenal Malbec blend and it has everything we love about great South American wine: super old vines, rich opulent flavor, and incredible value. Predominantly Malbec (65%), rounded out with Cabernet Sauvignon (25%) and Petit Verdot (10%), the ‘Unus’ will give a great deal of pleasure over the next decade and is a terrific value from this exciting region.
Much of the Argentina’s wine boom has been on the back of Malbec, and no winemaker deserves more credit for catapulting Argentinian wine into the spotlight than the late Raul de la Mota, “one of the fathers of Argentina’s quality wines” (Wine Advocate). Raul’s son, Roberto de la Mota continues the family tradition with Mendel, a “bijou winery” which the Wine Advocate praised for crafting “splendid, intellectual Mendoza wines.” 2013 was a cool year in Mendoza, and the Wine Advocate described the results as “vibrant, electric wines with acidity and tension.” This is a great representation of the winery and vintage, so stock up! Cheers!
