"It's amazing how good this wine has become..." - Robert Parker
2014 was the beginning of a winning streak for Bordeaux, especially from the value-oriented regions like Fronsac, since the quality of the vintage was so egalitarian. The 2014 La Dauphine has really captured our hearts and is a clear winner with a classic Right Bank profile that is ready to enjoy today. With double 92-point ratings and a stellar price, this is a tremendous value from "an up-an-coming estate" (Parker).
The 25-acre Dauphine estate is “one of the most beautiful properties in Fronsac” according to Parker, and since 2000 they’ve been on a serious roll. The 2014 Bordeaux vintage was “characterized by elegance and freshness as opposed to power” (Galloni), and quality was high across the board with the best tending towards elegant red fruit, silky tannins, and a charming personality that is impossible to resist.
The 2014 La Dauphine has the classic layers of Merlot fruit with the added earthy complexity and savory spice that comes from the heavy clay soils. Showing terrific precision, this will pair perfectly with a huge variety of foods, but Bordeaux fans will have no trouble savoring a glass all by itself! Pick this "little gem" up by the case to enjoy today and over the next 10 years.
