"...this is an undeniable reference point for traditionally made Châteauneuf-du-Pape, and life is too short not to drink copious quantities of Pégau!" - Jeb Dunnuck
For a Chateauneuf du Pape to be declared “unquestionably one of the top wines in the vintage” is a pretty fine thing, but in a vintage like 2015, such a declaration makes it a benchmark for the entire decade. Pegau’s ‘Cuvee da Capo’ is a “powerhouse” collectible that is only made in top vintages. With massive critical acclaim and a multi-decade aging curve, any serious Rhone collector should have Pegau’s ‘Cuvee da Capo’ in their cellar, and we've made that easy to do with our terrific sale price!
Domaine du Pegau is one of the top producers in the entire Southern Rhone, and its 'Cuvee da Capo' is an appropriately named magnum opus, produced in the best years (last time was in 2010). ‘Capo’ has never earned fewer than 98 points from the Wine Advocate, which gives it a phenomenal track record. For lovers of Grenache, it's among the greatest expressions one can find of the variety. Grenache, with a touch of Mourvedre and other grapes, 'Capo' is sourced from century-old vines in La Crau. Pegau did not destem, so there is a terrific level of spice, garrigue, and Provençal aromas emanating from the wine.
JJ Buckley is very excited to be able to offer an allocation of this Pegau’s prestige cuvee, but very, very little is available so contact us at your earliest convenience. Cheers!
