The classic 2015 La Fortuna Brunello is a delicious and energetic Sangiovese that we've got for easily the best price around. You'll rarely find any vintage of La Fortuna for under $50, and 2015 is one of the two or three top vintages of the decade for the region. La Fortuna has delivered an accessible expression of this “vintage of power and purity” (Vinous), yet it also has the structure to go the distance for up to two decades in the cellar!

Started by local sharecroppers in 1907, the family won the rights to their farmstead in a poker game, deciding to name it La Fortuna as a result. Now on its fifth generation of family ownership, this is the sort of classic, down to earth Brunello that we adore thanks to its impeccable balance and transparency. The majority of their vines are in the cooler, hilly region northwest of Montalcino neighboring Fuligni, with a handful of acres down in the warmer Castelnuovo dell'Abate area in the south. The 2015 is “bright and full of energy” (Wine Advocate), and a perfect case buy at this price. Cheers!

95 points, James Suckling: "The sliced plums and peaches are plentiful here on the nose. Full-bodied and dense with round and rich tannins and a long, long finish. Shows structure and intensity. Serious Brunello."

94+ points, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The wine opens to a dark ruby color with pretty intensity on the bouquet. It offers cherry and plum, with spice, toasted almond and cola. That beautiful feeling of intensity continues to the palate, where the wine is vivid, bright and full of energy. The zesty acidity awakens your senses and would pair nicely with a creamy mushroom risotto." - Monica Larner
