2015 Wines of Substance Cabernet Sauvignon Jack's Vineyard
by JJ Buckley Fine Wines
We love Washington Cabs for their sheer power coupled with sublime elegance, and this 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from a select site in Walla Walla is no exception. Boasting double 94-point scores from Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate and Jeb Dunnuck, you know this one’s going to be good. Indeed, you’ll want to take sip after sip after tasting this “full-bodied, rich, and lavish” Cab with its ample fruit and “loads of savory complexity”.
Winemaker Charles Smith has dominated the growing Washington State wine scene for years but doesn’t rest on his laurels. His wines are “dead serious” per Dunnuck and are fermented in small batches with native yeasts, aged in barrels, and bottled unfined and unfiltered. Whether working with Bordeaux or Rhone varieties, his singular style makes his wines enticingly memorable and approachable even when young, and they have been praised as "terrific wines that more than over deliver at their price point" (JD).
The 2015 vintage was “another terrific vintage for the region” (Wine Advocate), yielding “extravagantly ripe, deep, showy wines with substantial ripe tannins” (Vinous). Grab this by the case to enjoy now and over the next 10+ years. Cheers!
