2017 Domaine Saint Prefert Chateauneuf du Pape Blanc

The white wines of the Rhone are some of the most decadent and complex in all of France, and their quality and aging potential can easily equal that of the reds. The only problem is that while nearly every top producer makes a Chateauneuf du Pape Blanc, the quantities are miniscule, and for the top estates like Saint-Prefert, it sells out fast!
Saint-Prefert is one of our favorite producers in the Rhone, and we agree with Jeb Dunnuck that for this producer, "it's been one superb release after another." This 2017 Blanc is the latest standout for this bottling, and it's a must for Rhone enthusiasts.
According to Jeb Dunnuck, Isabel Ferrando is “making some of the most profound wines on earth today, including both reds and whites.” Her classic Châteauneuf du Pape Blanc cuvée is a luscious but vibrant expression. The 100% barrel fermented blend of Clairette and Roussanne shows “remarkable purity, and a great finish” along with its notes of honey and tropical fruit.
Saint-Prefert has been on an absolute tear, and we echo the sentiments of the Wine Advocate in that “if you haven’t discovered Saint-Prefert and the brilliant winemaker Isabel Ferrando, it’s about time!" Cheers!
