This shows tons of Bouzy character. The 12 grams of dosage is felt in the wine's weight but works beautifully here. With time in the glass the bubbles dissipate leaving a beautifully pure expression of fruit. The Carte Blanche is 75% Pinot Noir 25% Chardonnay 60% from the 2007 vintage and 40% from 2006. The Pinot is from Grand Cru vineyards in Bouzy Ambonnay and Tours-sur-Marne while the Chardonnay comes from Premier Cru vineyards in Tauxieres.

Pungent aromas of redcurrant peach pit and lemon zest with a floral topnote. Juicy and broad with supple texture and powerful red berry and citrus pith qualities. Really shows its pinot side. Finishes long and spicy with impressive clarity and grip.

There is a marked citrus component present on the expressive, cool and elegant nose that speaks mostly of white flowers, pear and green apple scents. There is good punch to the clean and crisp middle weight flavors that retain a good sense of delineation thanks to the relatively fine effervescence before terminating in moderately dry but not really austere finish. I very much like the style though this lacks just a bit of overall complexity for it to be at the next level. Note that this is very pleasant now though it could easily be held for a few years first if desired in the hopes that more depth will develop. now+

The wine is aged three years sur latte and is all grand cru fruit, with the exception of the chardonnay, which hails from the village of Tauxières and is only entitled to Premier Cru status. Like all of the house’s wines, it did not undergo malolactic fermentation. The bouquet is deep and classic, wafting from the glass in a generous blend of apple, peach, patissière, lovely soil tones and bread dough. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied, crisp and complex, with a good core, elegant mousse and lovely length and grip on the well-balanced and wide open finish. I did not ask which base year this iteration is from, but it seems probable that this would be 2011. A stylish bottle. 2016-2025+.
