This is a deep and profound 2002 with such fine bubbles that have the texture of fine silk. Full body. Extremely dense and compact. Just rolls over your palate. Superb quality and satisfaction, after all this time. Drink now.

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, July 2020

Pol Roger's 2002 Brut Vintage is showing beautifully, bursting from the glass with an expressive bouquet of confit lemon and pear mingled with nuances of brioche, wheat toast, honeycomb and dried white flowers...

Wine Spectator, December 2012

Exuberant, yet graceful overall, with rich notes of ripe pineapple, guava, honey and baked peach mixing with a minerally undertow and accents of grated ginger, biscuit and fresh quince. Mouthwatering finish. Drink now...

Pol Roger is one of the oldest and most-distinguished luxury Champagne firms. Based in the heart of Epernay, it was established in 1849 and remains one of the few family-owned, grande-marquee Champagne houses. Five generations have remained loyal to the firm’s essential values of excellence and independence, ensuring that each wine is treated as an impeccable ambassador to their 160 years of history.

Pol Roger has carved out one of the most flattering reputations in the select circle of the leading Champagne brands. A personal favorite of Sir Winston Churchill (who has the firm’s top cuvee named after him), Pol Roger champagne has also been the British Royal Family’s choice over the years.

The house grows more than half its grapes on 89 estate hectares and sources the rest from select growers. Their cellars extend below the Avenue de Champagne for over seven kilometers on two levels. The deeper cellar maintains a lower temperature for the wine to develop finer bubbles.

The Pol Roger portfolio includes a vintage brut, a non-vintage brut, a brut nature, a demi sec, a vintage rose, a blanc de blancs and the Sir Winston Churchill prestige cuvee.

The Brut Vintage from Champagne Pol Roger is made from their traditional house vintage blend of 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay, coming from 20 Grands and Premiers cru vineyards in the Montagne de Reims and the Cote des Blancs. Produced only in limited quantities, the Brut Vintage is aged for 8 years in the cellars before being disgorged and released onto the market.

The 2002 Pol Roger Vintage Brut Champagne is a wine that exudes elegance and finesse. With its beautiful golden color, this Champagne is a true visual delight. The nose is filled with enticing aromas of baked bread, lemon rind, green apple, and hints of honeycomb. There is a complexity to the aromas that is simply captivating.

On the palate, this Champagne truly shines. It has a full-bodied and textural mouthfeel that is both rich and vinous. The fine bubbles have the texture of silk, creating a luxurious sensation on the palate. The flavors of confit lemon, pear, and brioche dance harmoniously, creating a symphony of taste. There is a perfect balance of fruitiness and acidity, giving this Champagne a wonderful sense of harmony.

The 2002 Pol Roger Vintage Brut Champagne has received high praise from wine critics. Jancis Robinson, a renowned wine critic, awarded it a score of 93, describing it as having excellent evolution, buttery notes, and a refined character. Burghound gave it a score of 92, noting its hints of maturity and excellent complexity. James Suckling was particularly impressed, awarding it a score of 97 and praising its deep and profound nature, fine bubbles, and superb quality. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate gave it a score of 95, highlighting its expressive bouquet, textural richness, and long, saline finish.

This Champagne is a testament to the exceptional quality of the 2002 vintage. It is a wine that can be enjoyed now, but also has the potential to age gracefully for a few more years. Whether you are celebrating a special occasion or simply want to indulge in a luxurious experience, the 2002 Pol Roger Vintage Brut Champagne is a perfect choice.
