This beautiful, amber colored and luminous dessert wine has entered a very fortuitous stage in its long and healthy drinking life. The 2007 Vin Santo del Chianti Classico Castello di Brolio shows some elegant tertiary evolution that adds to the compelling complexity that you should always expect of excellent Vin Santo. This wine offers generous intensity and fruity plumpness with apricot, honey, brown sugar and sweet maple syrup. This is an openly sweet wine, but that sweetness is never presented in a heavy or cloying manner. This vintage is broad and smooth. It does appear to deliver a slightly lower overall acidic threshold. - Monica Larner
