Cordella is located in the northern Torrenieri quadrant of the Montalcino appellation, which is characterized by thicker clay soils and heavier wines. The 2010 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva opens to a black and impenetrable appearance, and dense aromas of black cherry and spice. This subzone tends to show more black fruit aromas of blackberry and plum, whereas the other areas of Montalcino veer towards red and purple fruit aromas. The mouthfeel is thick and powerful, and the wine shows big structure and a slightly rugged or wild personality. - Monica Larner
