jamessuckling.com, October 2014

This is powerful and super-silky with decadent layers of fruit and tannins. Full and structured. It shows such strength and beauty. Drink or hold. Better in 2016.

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, October 2014

Extremely full and generous, the 2010 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione is a seductive wine with the bold intensity and layering of a super Tuscan. Instead of international grapes, this Sangiovese-based wine is enhanced by...

Wine Enthusiast, June 2014

This gorgeous, structured wine, made from 80% Sangiovese and 20% other native grapes, is all about depth and complexity. Ripe black cherry, blue flower, tilled soil, mineral, black spice and leather all jump out of the...

Wine Spectator, October 2014

Cherry and strawberry flavors combine with tobacco and black tea notes in this well-structured red. Succulent and balanced, with plenty of grip on the finish. Mouthwatering, revealing echoes of fruit, spice and iron...

Agricola San Felice spans two outstanding territories: Chianti Classico and Montalcino. The San Felice estate (more than 650 hectares) is at the southern end of the Chianti Classico area in Castelnuovo Berardenga. Lying at about 1,300 feet, it includes 140 hectares of vineyard, about 17,000 olive trees, the cellar, the village and a prestigious hotel complex.

San Felice is recognized for innovations. The estate’s history includes Vigorello, the forerunner of the famous SuperTuscans, followed in the 1970’s by the creation of Poggio Rosso, a first, and at the time, rare example of a Chianti Classico cru.

Also notable is the unique research project the winery has in partnership with the University of Florence. Over 270 Tuscan grape varieties were collected, classified and planted into the Vitiarium, the estate’s most important experimental vineyard, where they were tended, tested and analyzed.

The estate’s cellars are located in fully renovated 19th century buildings within the village. Vinification marries tradition and modernity. Aging is in Slavonian oak barrels and French oak tonneaux and barriques.

The Campogiovanni estate covers 65 hectares on the southwestern side of Montalcino. The estate was bought by Agricola San Felice in the 1980’s, before Brunello had achieved the wide international acclaim it enjoys today. Fourteen of the estate’s 20 hectares are currently used for the production of Brunello.

Gran Selezione comes only from the San Felice's best plots. It’s made from 80% Sangiovese supplemented with ancient indigenous varieties such as Abrusco, Pugnitello, Malvasia Nera, Ciliegiolo and Mazzese. This creates complexity in the wine, while retaining the full elegance and expression of San Felice’s terroir.
