A bright backbone of acidity focuses this through to the lingering, creamy finish. Disgorged October 2019. Drink now through 2027. — A.N.

On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, broad and fleshy, with a tangy but ripe core of fruit, nicely integrated acids and a pinpoint mousse, concluding with an attractively fruit-driven finish. The 2012 reflects both the concentration of the vintage and Moët's push for riper fruit, and it is already quite accessible. - WK

It’s toasty in the mode of Moët, and built to age: This will integrate with a year of cellaring and develop well for years beyond that. (Disgorged 2/18)

The 2012 Grand Vintage is a very pretty, high-toned Champagne. Surprisingly nervous for this radiant vintage, the 2012 is going to need a bit of time to be at its best. Surprisingly nervous for this radiant vintage, the 2012 is going to need a bit of time to be at its best. Some of that may be attributable to early release of the 2012, which was bottled after only five years on its lees rather than the more customary seven or so because the house did not bottle either a 2010 or 2011 Grand Vintage, and the necessities of the market are what they are. Lemon confit, white flowers, and mint gradually open up in the glass. This is an especially taut style for the Grand Vintage, which is usually creamier and more open-knit in the early going. The blend is 41% Chardonnay, 36% Meunier and 33% Pinot Noir. Dosage is 5 grams per liter. Disgorged: February, 2018. -- Antonio Galloni

Decanter, November 2019
Grand Vintage 2012 is a surprising Champagne. Very lively, the nose is energetic and reveals notes of lemon and spring flowers, and some minty hints with aeration. The rather tense style is accentuated by the 5g/l dosage...   Grand Vintage 2012 is a surprising Champagne. Very lively, the nose is energetic and reveals notes of lemon and spring flowers, and some minty hints with aeration. The rather tense style is accentuated by the 5g/l dosage, while the finish is elegant, fruity and pleasant. An easy-going Champagne.

Moet Chandon

Since 1743 when it was founded, Moet & Chandon has been passing down unequaled winemaking savoir-faire and an innovative and pioneering spirit from generation to generation. Founder Claude Moet was the first to embody these values when he made his Champagne the most sought-after in Europe. With his grandson, Jean Remy Moët, a pioneering and visionary mind, Moet & Chandon became a major international champagne brand. This saga quickly transformed the family House into a worldwide symbol of success.

The 1,190 hectares of rich limestone soil, 50% of which is classed as Grand Cru and 25% Premier Cru, make up the largest vineyard area in Champagne. Underground, the Moet & Chandon cellars are the most extensive in the region. Extending more than 28 kilometers, they form a subterranean labyrinth where the wine metamorphoses under optimum conditions of humidity and temperature.

Moet & Chandon is part of the luxury brands group LVMH, whose other prestigious wine holdings include Chateau d’Yquem, Cheval Blanc, Cloudy Bay, Krug, and Newton Vineyard, to name a few.
