Apricots, hazelnuts, lemons, white flowers, sliced almonds and hints of licorice on the nose. It's creamy and layered, with soft, rounded bubbles that spread across the palate. Lovely balance of breadth, ripeness and...

Vinous, April 2025

The 2014 Comtes de Champagne is pristine. In this tasting, it comes across as a mini-2008, similar in its linear personality, with just a touch more mid-palate creaminess. Readers will find a Comtes that plays in the...

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, December 2025

Occupying a stylistic middle ground between the incisiveness of the 2013 and the fleshier textures of the 2012, Taittinger’s 2014 Blanc de Blancs Comtes de Champagne—disgorged in July 2024 with a dosage of nine grams per...

The Comtes de Champagne Blanc de Blancs, Champagne Taittinger’s most rare and precious cuvee, was created as a tribute to the Counts (or “Comtes”) of Champagne who ruled over the Saint-Nicaise Abbey and to Thibauld IV in particular. The blend is derived solely from Chardonnay grapes from the highest ranked crus of the Cote des Blancs, the most prestigious source of Chardonnay in Champagne.

Produced only when the harvest is exceptional quality worthy of a vintage year, and only from the first press, Comtes de Champagne is a study in finesse. Since its first cuvee in 1952, just 30 vintages have been deemed worthy of bottling.

The 2014 Taittinger Comtes de Champagne Blanc de Blancs is a distinguished offering from the renowned Champagne producer, Taittinger. Crafted in the Champagne region of France, this white wine is composed entirely of Chardonnay grapes, reflecting the classic elegance and purity associated with Blanc de Blancs champagnes.

With an alcohol content of 12.5%, this wine offers a balanced profile that is both refreshing and sophisticated. The absence of additional commentary from professional reviewers does not detract from its potential appeal. Taittinger is known for producing wines that are characterized by their finesse and complexity, and the 2014 vintage is no exception.

The Champagne region is celebrated for its unique terroir, and Taittinger's meticulous attention to detail in the vineyard and winery is evident in this wine. The 2014 vintage in Champagne was marked by a cool and rainy summer, followed by a warm and sunny September, allowing the grapes to ripen fully and develop a harmonious balance of acidity and flavor.

In summary, the 2014 Taittinger Comtes de Champagne Blanc de Blancs is a testament to the skill and dedication of its producer. While professional reviews are not available to provide additional insights, the reputation of Taittinger and the quality of the 2014 vintage suggest that this wine is likely to exhibit the refined characteristics and lively effervescence that are hallmarks of exceptional Champagne. Whether enjoyed on its own as a celebratory toast or paired with fine cuisine, this wine promises to deliver an experience that is both memorable and enjoyable for enthusiasts of sparkling wines.
