Deeply colored, the wine is all about its sensuality. Texturally, the wine is silk and velvet with its layers of sweet, luscious plums, cherries, smoke and licorice. Full-bodied with a fabulous depth of flavor, seamless...

Lots of leaf, mushroom, bark and plum aromas and flavors. It’s medium-to full-bodied with juicy fruit and firm, fine tannins. Tight at the finish. The quality and the polish of the tannins are exceptional. So integrated...

(96+ points) This estate makes an incredibly classic, elegant Saint-Emilion. The 2018 Château Beau-Séjour Bécot is based on 80% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc, and the rest Cabernet Sauvignon that was brought up in 65% new...

Vinous, March 2021

The 2018 Beau-Séjour Bécot has really closed down since I tasted it en primeur. Inky red/purplish fruit, lavender, rose petal, mint and blood orange gradually open in the glass, all framed by veins of chalky minerality...

Wine Enthusiast, May 2021

Big, rich and packed with smoky black fruits, this is not a shy wine. Dark chocolate and black-plum flavors mingle with the solid structure and concentrated tannins. With its ripe, juicy fruitiness at the end, the wine...

The first vintage to be entirely overseen by Juliet Bécot, ann the sculpting of style that she has introduced can be seen here. A mix of amphorae, 20hl Stockinger casks and 225l barrels used for the ageing

Decanter, April 2021

The bouquet is so pure and refined, with floral and dark fruit notes. This alone denotes the change in style. The palate is digestible and fresh with a lovely pitch of fruit and mouthwatering acidity. Minerally firmness...

(94+ points) The 2018 Beau-Sejour Becot is a blend of 80% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon. Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, it slips slowly, sensuously from the glass with notes of...

The Wine Independent, February 2023

The 2018 Beau-Sejour Becot has a deep garnet purple color. It starts off with vanilla and chocolate notes, with a core of boysenberry preserves and baked plums, plus wafts of redcurrant jelly, roses, and wild sage...

The Beau-Sejour Becot vineyard is situated on the western plateau of Saint-Emilion, in the old parish of Saint-Martin de Mazerat. The estate covers 18.5 hectares of which 16.52 hectares are planted with Merlot (70%), Cabernet Franc (24%), and Cabernet Sauvignon (6%) on chalky soil with fossilized starfish. The average age of the vines is 40 years old and the fruit is harvested by hand.

This wine undergoes malolactic fermentation in 80-100% new barrels depending on the vintage. It then ages in the cellar for 16 to 18 months at constant temperature of 16 degrees Celsius. Annual production is approximately 60,000 bottles.

The 2018 Beau-Séjour-Bécot is a Bordeaux blend from the renowned region of Saint-Émilion in Bordeaux, France. This red wine is composed of 80% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc, and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon, boasting an alcohol content of 14.5%. The wine is sealed with a traditional cork closure.

James Suckling rates this wine at 96 points, noting its "lots of leaf, mushroom, bark and plum aromas and flavors." He praises its medium-to-full body and the exceptional polish of its tannins, advising to "try after 2024" for optimal enjoyment. Similarly, Jeb Dunnuck awards it 96+ points, describing it as an "incredibly classic, elegant Saint-Émilion." He highlights its "deep purple/ruby color" and notes that it warrants "5-7 years of bottle age" but has the potential to be enjoyed for over 30 years.

Jeff Leve provides an excellent review with a score of 97, emphasizing the wine's "sensuality" and "seamless textures." He describes it as "silk and velvet with its layers of sweet, luscious plums, cherries, smoke, and licorice," concluding that it has a "fabulous depth of flavor" and a "silky finish" that coats the mouth.

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate gives it 94+ points, with Lisa Perrotti-Brown describing it as "medium to deep garnet-purple colored" and highlighting its "soft textured, perfumed black fruit layers." She suggests that it will benefit from "5-6 years in bottle" and predicts a long aging potential of "25 years or more."

Decanter also scores it at 94 points, noting the "pure and refined" bouquet with "floral and dark fruit notes." They appreciate its "minerally firmness" and "mouthwatering acidity," while highlighting its potential to age well.

Vinous reviews the wine multiple times, with scores ranging from 94 to 96 points. Neal Martin describes it as having a "serious bouquet with darker fruit than expected," while Antonio Galloni mentions that it has "really closed down since I tasted it en primeur." Both reviewers agree on its potential for aging and its layered complexity.

Wine Spectator, Wine Enthusiast, and The Wine Independent also provide strong reviews, with scores of 94, 96, and 94 points respectively. Wine Spectator notes its "juicy" nature and "good energy through the finish," while Wine Enthusiast describes it as "big, rich and packed with smoky black fruits." The Wine Independent praises its "deep garnet purple color" and "firm and grainy" palate.

Overall, the 2018 Beau-Séjour-Bécot is a highly regarded wine with excellent aging potential and a complex, multi-layered profile.
