The 2018 Bodegas Frontonio Supersonico is a Grenache varietal from the Aragon region of Spain. This red wine is produced by Bodegas Frontonio, known for utilizing high-altitude vineyards and traditional methods. The wine is bottled with a cork and has an alcohol content of 13.5%.

The grapes for this wine are sourced from two hectares of old vines located in the village of Sestrica, at an altitude of approximately 1,030 meters, the highest of all their vineyards. The soil in this region is complex, comprising slate, granite, and limestone. The 2018 vintage experienced a cool and rainy year, which influenced the wine's composition and character.

Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate awarded the 2018 Supersonico a commendable score of 94. Describing it as "fresh and pure," the review notes that the wine was produced with careful consideration to limit alcohol content and enhance freshness. The grapes underwent fermentation in oak and concrete vats with 30% foot-trodden full clusters, followed by a 40-day maceration period. The maturation process involved used oak 500-liter barrels and 2,500-liter oak foudres for one year, ensuring a balanced and nuanced final product.

According to the review, the wine is "really aromatic and expressive," with a bouquet that includes "tons of notes of violets" and a reminiscent quality to the aromatics of Touriga Nacional. The tasting notes highlight a "sensation of grape pulp" that is "plump, juicy, and tasty," complemented by "very fine tannins" that are both "subtle and elegant." The review emphasizes that this is a "high-altitude Garnacha of finesse." With a limited production of 4,200 bottles, it was bottled in March 2020.

The 2018 Bodegas Frontonio Supersonico stands out for its aromatic complexity and refined texture, making it a noteworthy example of high-altitude Grenache from Aragon.
