Very pretty and typical for the appellation with aromas of blackcurrants, violets and sandalwood that follow through to a full body with layers of polished tannins and a long, flavorful finish. Lasts a long time on the...

Violet-edged, with sculpted fruit and an enticing mix of precision and generosity, with classic St Julien balance. Great depth of fruit, crushed rocks, smoked earth, tobacco. Takes time to show itself, but there is sweet...

Decanter, January 2022

Such an expressive nose, high toned, floral, a bit wild with some medicinal aspects, coffee, leather and cola notes. The texture is just gorgeous, there's a chewiness that you find in a lot of the St-Julien's but it's...

TheWineCellarInsider.com, March 2022

Blackberries, red pit fruits, flowers, tobacco leaf and red currants are the first thing you notice. The wine is soft, fresh and creamy on the palate, leaving you with a wealth of vibrant, lusciously textured, rich...

Vinous, February 2022

The 2019 Saint-Pierre has a little more intensity and ambition than the Gloria, offering intense blackberry, boysenberry, cedar and pencil box aromas; hints of iodine come through with time. The palate is medium-bodied...

I continue to love the wines from this château, and the 2019 Château Saint-Pierre (Saint-Julien) is no exception, revealing a dense purple hue as well as a great nose of ripe blackcurrants, green tobacco, cedar pencil...

Wine Spectator, January 2022

Ripe and well-built, with a gentle, understated approach stylistically and a rounded feel, as warm earth, sweet tobacco and savory details permeate a core of friendly plum, black cherry and cassis flavors. Features a long...

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, April 2022

A fleshy, sensual wine, the 2019 Saint-Pierre bursts from the glass with aromas of cherries, blackberries, burning embers and subtle spices. Full-bodied, velvety and enveloping, it's seamless and polished, with a sweet...

The smallest of the Saint-Julien crus, Chateau Saint-Pierre was first established in the 17th century, although a number of legacies subsequently led to the property being split up and dispersed. In 1982, through a combination of good luck and tenacity, current proprietor Henri Martin, who owned neighboring Chateau Gloria, was able to put the estate back together the way it had been in 1855, the year of the famous classification.

Ever since, thanks to the investments made by the owners, Saint-Pierre has been acknowledged as a perfect representative of the Grands Crus Classes of the prestigious Saint-Julien appellation. The estate vineyards, located in the middle of the commune of Beychevelle. These, cover 17 hectares which are planted with 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot, and 10% Cabernet Franc, on soils of Gunzian gravel over clay and sand, and an average vine age of 50 years.

The grapes for Saint-Pierre’s red wine are picked by hand and vinified in the traditional way in heat-regulated stainless steel vats. The wine then spends 14 to 16 months being aged in casks, half of which are replaced every year. The wine is typically a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc.

The flavors linger on the palate, creating a memorable experience that lasts long after the last sip.

Decanter also awarded it a score of 95 points, describing it as expressive and seductive, with a chewy yet soft texture and a deep core of black liquorice and fruits. Jeff Leve awarded it the same score, highlighting its vibrant and lusciously textured character, while Robert Parker's Wine Advocate praised its fleshy and sensual nature, awarding it 93 points.
