It is Cabernet Sauvignon-led, with blending details varying slightly by reviewer: Vinous reports 79% Cabernet Sauvignon with 9% each Cabernet Franc and Merlot plus 3% Petit Verdot, while Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate cites 73% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Merlot, 12% Cabernet Franc and 3% Petit Verdot. What’s consistent is the intent: a structured, age-worthy Washington blend built on one of the state’s classic Cabernet sites.

This vintage drew several excellent reviews. Jeb Dunnuck awarded 97 points, calling it “the flagship 2021 Sorella” and highlighting “cassis, ripe blackcurrants, leafy tobacco, graphite, leather, and spicy wood notes,” alongside “ripe, integrated tannins, and a great finish.” Decanter also rated it 96 points and leaned into its savory dimension, describing “bright red currant and blood orange aromatics,” “bright alpine herbs,” and an “amaro-like herbaceous character” over ripe red fruits, finishing with a “brilliant mineral finish.” Vinous matched that 96-point level, describing the wine as “youthfully coy yet remarkably pretty,” with “dried cherries with rosemary, white pepper, stone dust,” and a finish that is “dramatically long and staining yet still fresh.”

Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate (93 points, Erin Brooks) provides key production facts: the wine was “matured for 24 months in 30% new French oak,” with “a total of 755 cases” and a planned release in “February of 2026.” Brooks notes “Goldilocks ripeness,” “soft, powdery tannins,” and “juicy acidity.”

James Suckling was more reserved at 91 points, finding it “plush and fruit-forward with juicy tannins,” with ripe plum, black cherry, “dusty earthy minerality and dried violets,” and a simple “drink or hold” assessment. Overall, 2021 Sorella reads as a balanced, Cabernet-centered Champoux expression: savory-leaning aromatics, polished structure, and clear cellar potential.
