Viña Zorzal’s 2024 Señora de las Alturas Blanco is a single-vineyard white from DO Navarra, sourced from the village of Fitero and built around Viura and Garnacha Blanca from “white soils.” The estate, founded in 1989, has made its name by focusing on native varieties and distinctive old-vine sites, and this bottling leans into that identity with a tightly constructed, cellar-driven style aimed at longevity.

The best reviews are emphatic. Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate awarded 95 points, calling it “precise, sharp and long,” and framing the 2024 as a deliberate move toward “a more vibrant and electric wine.” Reviewer Luis Gutiérrez notes that the varieties were fermented separately—Viura in 500-liter barrels, Garnacha Blanca in larger alternative vessels—and matured for nine months. He reports 12.4% alcohol, pH 3.2 and 6.7 grams of acidity, describing the result as “notably fresher,” “sharper and more vertical,” with a “flinty…chalky” profile and a “fine-boned” feel, “with the texture of talcum powder.” Production is small at 4,000 bottles, bottled June 2025, and he concludes, “It should age nicely in bottle.”

James Suckling also scored it 95, highlighting a more overt aromatic register—“roasted popcorn with citrus and an herbal note of dill”—followed by a “chiseled” palate with “mineral tension, savory brightness and a saline edge.” He advises, “Drink now or hold.”

Vinous likewise rated it 95 and emphasizes structure and development potential, noting “refined oak expression” alongside “flint and light reduction,” then “caramel, white flowers, pear and a touch of pineapple.” The palate is described as “dry and tightly” shaped, with “a chalky, almost grippy texture” and “elevated freshness through the finish.” Vinous adds that the oak is currently prominent but sees the wine as “structured and ambitious,” built to gain complexity with bottle age.
