jamessuckling.com, April 2026

(98-99 points) A tight and powerful wine with a precise and structured texture. Restrained, steely and racy. Goes on for minutes. So much intensity. A bright and shining white. Stunning balance. Alcohol 13.5%. A blend of...

Vinous, April 2026

(97-99 points) The 2025 Domaine de Chevalier Blanc gets my vote for the white wine of the vintage. Rich and powerful in the glass, but also beautifully vibrant, the 2025 dazzles from start to finish. Lemon confit, pear...

The Drinks Business, May 2026

(96-98 points) (Pessac-Léognan; 75% Sauvignon Blanc, 25% Sémillon; 13.5% ABV; tasted three times, the final time at the UGCB tasting at the Cité du Vin). So true to its identity that this would – or at least should – be...

Decanter, April 2026

The cooler microclimate at this estate favours hot and dry weather, and this proved no exception in 2025. I tasted this wine no less than five times at different locations (négociant Joanne, CVGB, Pessac–Léognan group...

The perfume bursts with honeysuckle, white flowers, white peaches, spice box, Meyer lemons, and Granny Smith apples. The palate pops with its layers of sweet, round, fresh, juicy citrus and white peaches that start off...

The Wine Independent, May 2026

(94-97+ points) Well defined nose of nuts and powerful, intense fruit. Full-bodied and elegant with a strong acidic and fine backbone, this is a serious white wine that would need 4-5 years in the cellar. It has a fine...

Winedoctor, April 2026

(95-97 points) This presents ripe Sauvignon aromatics on the nose, with a little greengage and gooseberry freshness, dusted with fresh powdered chalk and lemon peel, the whole just bursting with mineral energy. The palate...

janeanson.com, April 2026

Straight from the first nose this is clearly one of the whites of the vintage. The most beautifully flinty and sculpted citrus and pear. Harvest August 25 to September 6. 33% new oak. In organic conversion. It's now been...

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, April 2026

Domaine de Chevalier Blanc 2025 is the flagship dry white from this Cru Classé de Graves estate in Pessac-Léognan (Léognan). It is a Sauvignon Blanc–Sémillon blend, most reviewers citing 70% Sauvignon Blanc and 30% Sémillon, with alcohol typically reported at 13–13.5% (James Suckling notes 13.5%; Winedoctor reports 13%). The 2025 harvest ran early, from August 25 to September 6, according to Jane Anson, and the wine was raised with 33% new oak. The estate is also “in organic conversion,” Anson reports.

Critical reception is notably strong. Antonio Galloni (Vinous) calls it “the white wine of the vintage,” describing a wine that is “rich and powerful… but also beautifully vibrant,” with notes including “lemon confit, pear, slate, mint, white flowers and tangerine peel,” concluding: “quite simply stunning. Don’t miss it!” James Suckling also delivers an excellent review, praising a “tight and powerful wine” that is “restrained, steely and racy… Goes on for minutes,” with “stunning balance.”

Several other critics reinforce that combination of ripeness and line. Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate highlights “pear and white peach” with florals, calling it “dense yet remarkably fresh and precise,” finishing “long, ethereal and perfumed,” and “surely one of the most precise white wines produced in Bordeaux this year.” Decanter, after multiple tastings, emphasizes “the exciting combination of freshness and white stone fruit fleshiness,” and quotes owner Olivier Bernard: “We picked later, including after the rains of late August, to get more breadth in the palate.”

Texture and structure are recurring themes: Winedoctor says it “majors on tension and frame,” while Jeb Dunnuck notes “ample mid-palate depth” and that it will “need just a few years of bottle age to come together.” For cellaring, Jeff Leve suggests 2028–2045. Overall, the 2025 looks built for both immediate aromatic appeal and layered development with time.
