Domaines Ott’s 2025 Côtes de Provence Rosé “Château de Selle” comes from the historic Château de Selle estate near Taradeau in inland Provence, the first property acquired by Marcel Ott in 1912. The vineyard sits on high limestone hills, a setting the producer points to as central to the wine’s dry, pale, terroir-driven style. The typical estate blend draws on Provençal varieties, and this vintage is described by Wine Spectator as Grenache, Cinsault, Syrah and Mourvèdre.

Critics found this to be a more serious, structured expression than the easygoing rosés the region is often associated with. Wine Spectator’s 91-point review is an excellent callout, praising a wine that is “translucent yet far from delicate,” with “creamy richness” and a distinctive savory-herbal register: “heather, preserved lemon, fresh-cut chive and chamomile,” set on a “saline-washed mineral bed.” The magazine highlights texture as well as line, calling it “caressing in feel, with a beam of salty, juicy acidity cutting through,” and concludes, “The finish is harmonious and long. A serious rosé.” It recommends drinking it now through 2028.

Vinous also leans into the wine’s savory side, awarding 90 points and noting its “hallmark delicacy and finesse” while emphasizing that it is “notably more savory than usual.” Billy Norris describes an “earthy bouquet of truffle, turned earth and wet stone,” suggesting a more soil- and stone-toned profile than purely fruit-driven rosé. He adds that “the acids are very much on the high side,” though “they remain in check,” lending persistence and energy. On the finish, Vinous finds “an echo of honeyed green apple” with “a floral top note.”

Taken together, the 2025 Château de Selle reads as a mineral-leaning, high-acid, gastronomic rosé—layering herbal and earthy notes over citrus and orchard fruit, with enough concentration and length to justify its reputation as a benchmark Provence bottling.
