(98-99 points) Bright, vibrant aromas of sliced apples, pears and lemons with some acacia and flint. The palate is dense and tight, with so much chalk and oyster shell character. Extremely long and pure, with vivid energy at the end. Sharp and driven by acidity. A blend of 90% sauvignon blanc, 5% semillon and 5% sauvignon gris.

(96-98 points) (Pessac-Léognan; 90% Sauvignon Blanc, 5% Sémillon, 5% Sauvignon Gris; a final yield of 18 hl/ha; pH 3.2; 13.5% ABV; tasted at Smith Haut Lafitte with Fabien Teitgen and Tracey Dobbin MW). An enticing green tinge in the glass, usually a good signal, above all when it's as limpid as this is. Beautiful and very 'Smith'. Beeswax, pollen, saffron, assorted wild spring field flowers, a little thyme, verbena, white rose petals and a hint of lily of the valley. Fresher aromatically with aeration, with more linden and lime juice. The texture and mouthfeel are deeply impressive. The wine starts with amplitude but before it flows to the cheeks there's a powerful upthrust of freshness that coarses from below. Tense and energetic in the mid-palate, like the 2016. Then we have almost a cascade of descending fruits and their juices. I love the shimmer on the finish. Fascinating texturally and extremely tactile, this is a triumph. 96-98

(96-98 points) Honeyed citrus, orange blossom, mint, crushed stone, and brioche all emerge from the 2025 Château Smith Haut Lafitte Blanc, a blend of 90% Sauvignon Blanc, 5% Sauvignon Gris, and the rest Sémillon that's being raised in 50% new barrels with the balance in once-used oak. It's medium to full-bodied on the palate, with deep, rich, layered fruit and a lengthy, seamless finish. It's one of the whites of the vintage.

Light greenish yellow, silver reflections. Fresh herbs, a hint of pear and melon, yellow gooseberries, delicate wood spice, candied grapefruit zest, underlaid with white flowers, multi-faceted bouquet. Complex, powerful, mineral, white stone fruit, salty aftertaste, some blossom honey, has great length, sure maturity potential.

(94-97 points) Clean and fresh nose, fine sweetness, pure and round with elegant, rounded velvety, notes of high toned, fresh fruit followed by many layers of spicy, crunchy fruit and an aftertaste that goes on and on. Very classic and very nice.

(95-97 points) A gorgeous and rich complexity on the nose to this barrel sample, with waxed orange and peach, lemon and grapefruit, with a palate carrying all this delicious fruit wrapped in a gentle and harmonious texture. Beautifully balanced, with a fresh core of phenolic bitterness partnered with the fresh acidity, this is a seriously strong white Pessac-Léognan. It continues with a polished, long and energetic finish, filled out with charged and salty minerals and a fresh acid linearity. A stunning white. The blend is 90% Sauvignon Blanc and 5% each Sauvignon Gris and Semillon, as usual, picked from August 20th and finishing on September 2nd. The yield in white was just 18 hl/ha in this vintage. As withe the red, the label pays homage to the late Daniel Cathiard. The alcohol is reported to be about 14%. 95-97/100

Vanilla, caramel, warm honey, wax, dried herbs, flint, cool white peach and apple aromas. Explosive and alive, gorgeously clear and clean – there’s nuance and complexity here – but it’s lightly presented and delicate for Smith. Quite a streamlined style but actually the acidity is really well balance and not at all pronounced or too sharp. Clarity and cool freshness. Beautifully delineated, sophisticated with more tension and drive and energy than 2023. I like this a lot, a tiny dollop of sweet, tropical fruit with bitter elements too. The harvest for whites began on 20th August until 2nd September. A yield of 18hl/ha.

Pale gold colour, clearly the most structured, and reserved of the three estate white wines, showcasing bright vivid citrus and mint leaf, liquorice, sea spray, oyster shell, wet stones, white tea, nectarine pit, quince as it widens in the glass. Flavourful, with long ageing potential, love this. 18hl/h yield from these 80 to 90 year old vines. Expect a special label to commemorate the last vintage of Daniel Cathiard.

White peaches, orange rind, pineapples, pears, flowers, and a delicate touch of herbs form the aromatic profile. The palate shines with its opulent, sweet, ripe, white peaches, and creamy-textured pineapples. The wine blends 90% Sauvignon Blanc, 5% Semillon, and 5% Sauvignon Gris. 13.5% ABV, 3.25 pH. (94-96 points) The 2025 Smith Haut Lafitte Blanc needs a little swirling before it leaps from the glass with energetic notes of pink grapefruit, white peaches, and lime blossoms, plus touches of chalk dust, beeswax, and elderflower. The medium-bodied palate is racy and intense with orchard and citrus fruit layers, delivering a compelling chalky texture and a long, fragrant finish. The blend is 90% Sauvignon Blanc, 5% Sauvignon Gris, and 5% Sémillon. It is aging in French oak barrels (50% new).

(94-96 points) The 2025 Smith Haut Lafitte Blanc is superb. Rich, creamy and expansive on the palate, with fabulous balance, the 2025 is seriously impressive and very delicious. Dried pear, acacia, chamomile and white pepper open beautifully. The Blanc is quite delicate at first, but it gains breadth through the mid-palate and into the finish. Impeccable. -Antonio Galloni
