Champagne Billecart-Salmon is an independent and family-owned champagne house situated in the charming village of Mareuil-sur-Ay in the heart of Champagne. It was founded in 1818 after the marriage of Nicolas Francois Billecart and Elisabeth Salmon.

Since then, for almost 200 years, every member of the Billecart family has continued to stand by their oath of giving priority to quality and striving for excellence. Today, the 6th generation is represented by Francois and Antoine Roland-Billecart, who lead this independent house with the support of their father, Jean Roland-Billecart. The firm owns 74 acres of its own vines and purchases grapes from growers comprising another 346 acres. Ninety percent of the fruit for Billecart comes from 40 crus within a 20-mile radius of Epernay.

The Billecart portfolio includes the Brut Reserve, Brut Rose, Extra Brut, Demi-Sec, Brut Sous Bois, Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru, Cuvée Nicolas François Billecart, and the ultimate expression for the House, the vintage Le Clos Saint Hilaire, a blanc de noirs Champagne sourced from a tiny plot planted in 1964.

The winery employs sustainable viticulture practices, without the use of pesticides and herbicides, and the wines are aged in oak in Billecart's limestone cellars.

The production secrets and the vinification method of this cuvee go back to the origins of the House of Billecart-Salmon and have been handed down for seven generations. The Brut Rose is a blend of Chardonnay, Pinot Meunier and Pinot Noir vinified as red wine.

Its pale and bright pink color is adorned with warm glints of gold, and its delicate slowly rising bubbles give it a persistent mousse. This cuvee unveils a subtle aroma leading to an elegant, delicate bouquet of fine notes of red fruits and zest of citrus fruits. Its special method of vinification gives this cuvee a light, elegant flavor, followed by a fresh finish with a taste of raspberry. This rose champagne is an ideal partner as an aperitif and can also accompany a dish of wild salmon or sushi. For dessert, it will add a sublime touch to red fruit flavors.

The NV Billecart-Salmon Rose Champagne is a meticulously crafted offering from the esteemed Billecart-Salmon house in France's Champagne region. This non-vintage rosé is a blend of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier, with varying compositions across different base wines.

According to Wine Spectator, this Champagne scores 93 points and is described as "sleek and finely knit, with a lovely, satiny mousse gliding across the palate." The flavors include white raspberry, peach skin, blanched almond, and oyster shell, culminating in a long and mouthwatering finish with hints of ground ginger and pink grapefruit pith. It is recommended to drink from now through 2028.

James Suckling also awarded this rosé 93 points, noting its "pale salmon color" and flavors of "sliced strawberries, apples, grapefruit and crushed biscuits." The wine is described as "sleek, dry and fresh, with tight bubbles and a very clear finish." This is based on the 2020 base wine with 46% reserve wines.

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate gave the NV Billecart-Salmon Rose a 91-point score, highlighting its "scents of sweet red berries, peonies, stone fruits, white cherries, freshly baked bread and spices." The wine is medium to full-bodied with a seamless and enveloping core of fruit.

Decanter also rated this Champagne 91 points, describing it as "floral and citrussy, showing a lithe, graceful balance." Its flavors of raspberry and strawberry are enlivened by tangerine-like acidity, making it ripe and full in flavor while maintaining refinement and poise.

Wine Enthusiast gave it 92 points, noting its "dry style of brut" and "great fruitiness." The review emphasizes its tight minerality from the 40% Chardonnay in the blend, offering a wine under tension and worth aging another year.

Jeb Dunnuck gave the highest score of 94 points, praising its "fresh perfume of wild strawberry, ripe peach, white and red flowers, a hint of tropical fruit, and grapefruit." The palate is rounded with a "silky and fresh lift," delivering balance and finesse.

Vinous, rating it 91 points, described it as "pliable, creamy and super-expressive," with textural richness and freshness. The wine has flavors of pomegranate and grapefruit, finishing briskly and finely cut.

Lastly, The Wine Independent awarded this rosé 92 points, commending its "aromatically fresh and vibrant" profile with "bright, red berry, citrus peel and verbena blossom notes." It concludes with hints of marmalade and honey on the finish, leaving you thirsty for another glass.

In summary, the NV Billecart-Salmon Rose Champagne is a highly praised rosé with consistent scores in the low 90s, noted for its sleek, finely knit texture, and a complex array of fruit and floral flavors.
