jamessuckling.com, July 2019

A dense and flavorful chardonnay with creamy texture and flavor. Lots of citrus and grapefruit and very vinous. A blanc de blancs with weight yet freshness. Pure chardonnay with no dosage. A new wine. Lovely finish. 40%...

Wine Enthusiast, December 2020

This Champagne has the necessary bottle age for its bone-dry character to be softened and given great complexity. The wine's freshness and apple fruits are palpable but they have attractive nutty hints that make this fine...

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, April 2019

A new cuvée from Laurent-Perrier, the inaugural NV Blanc de Blancs Nature represents the first time this house, for all its emphasis on Chardonnay, has ever released a blanc de blancs. Offering up aromas of citrus fruit...

Wine Spectator, November 2023

Racy and linear, this unfolds on the palate to reveal a rich range of apricot tarte, lemon curd and marzipan underscored by a striking vein of chalky minerality. Packs power and drive but is finely knit and elegant...

Decanter, June 2019

The base year here is the superb 2012, contributing 60% of the blend. The balance is reserve wine, but unusually from one year only and not an immediate predecessor to the base: it’s from the sunny and generous 2009...

The House of Laurent-Perrier was founded in 1812 by Andre Michel Pierlot, a negociant in the wines of Champagne. His son Alphonse Pierlot, not having any heirs, subsequently bequeathed the House to his cellar master, Eugene Laurent.

Following his death in 1887, Eugene’s widow, Mathilde Emilie Perrier, took the helm of the business and combined her own name with that of her husband, naming the business “Veuve Laurent-Perrier”. Eugenie-Hortense Laurent succeeded her mother in 1925. Hard-hit by the economic crisis between the wars and heavily in debt, she sold the estate to Marie-Louise de Nonancourt in 1939.

Bernard de Nonancourt dedicated his life to a single passion: Laurent-Perrier. His courage, convictions and energy transformed a small Champagne House purchased by his mother in 1939 into a global brand. Keen on innovation, strongly attached to champagne traditions and to quality, he forged the commercial culture of Laurent-Perrier and created a renowned brand with a range of unique champagnes.

Up until his death on 29 October 2010, he made his vibrant stamp on the House of Laurent-Perrier, which will remain forever. The continued success of Laurent-Perrier is now overseen by his two daughters, Alexandra Pereyre de Nonancourt and Stephanie Meneux de Nonancourt. They offer a full range of Champagnes, from Ultra-Brut to Demi-Sec, the vintage-dated Brut Millesime and Alexandra Rose, and their tete-de-cuvee, Grand Siecle.

Introducing the exquisite 9998 Laurent-Perrier Blanc de Blancs Brut Nature, a true gem from the Champagne region of France. This white wine, crafted with precision and finesse, showcases the expertise of the esteemed producer Laurent-Perrier. With an alcohol content of 12.5%, this wine is sure to delight the senses and captivate the palate.

In the glass, this Blanc de Blancs displays a radiant white color that is both alluring and elegant. The cork closure adds a touch of tradition, preserving the wine's integrity and ensuring a delightful experience upon opening.

The blend is truly exceptional, with the superb 2012 vintage contributing 60% of the base. The remaining balance is reserve wine from the sunny and generous 2009 vintage, which imparts weight and complexity to the final product. This unique approach sets it apart from other Champagnes, as the reserve wine is not an immediate predecessor to the base.

Upon tasting, one is met with a familiar saline austerity complemented by floral notes, hints of lime, and calamansi. The finish is almost adamantine, leaving a lasting impression on the palate. The renowned wine critic Michel suggests pairing this masterpiece with sea bass cooked in a clay pot, although it would also be an excellent complement to lobster or oysters.

This Blanc de Blancs has garnered high praise from critics, with Decanter awarding it a score of 92. James Suckling awarded it an impressive 94, describing it as a dense and flavorful chardonnay with a creamy texture. Wine Enthusiast also bestowed a score of 94, highlighting the wine's bone-dry character and attractive nutty hints. Wine Spectator, too, awarded it a score of 92, commending its crackling acidity and rich flavors.

The inaugural NV Blanc de Blancs Nature from Laurent-Perrier, as reviewed by Robert Parker's Wine Advocate, received a score of 93. This exceptional cuvée showcases aromas of citrus fruit, green apple, oyster shell, and warm bread. With its medium to full-bodied profile, lively acidity, and delicately chalky finish, it is a true testament to the meticulous craftsmanship of Laurent-Perrier.

Indulge in the splendor of the 9998 Laurent-Perrier Blanc de Blancs Brut Nature and experience the magic of Champagne in every sip.
