The NV Rene Geoffroy Rose de Saignee 1er Cru is a compelling Champagne blend, predominantly featuring Pinot Noir from the esteemed 2018 vintage. This wine, produced by Rene Geoffroy in the renowned Champagne region of France, stands out for its distinctive character and complexity.

Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate awarded this wine a 92, with reviewer William Kelley noting its vibrant release, bursting with “sweet red berries, petals, and blood orange.” Kelley highlights the medium-bodied, rich, and fleshy nature of the wine, attributed to a long, destemmed maceration process kept cool with dry ice.

Vinous gave this Champagne an impressive 94 score, with Antonio Galloni describing it as “fabulous” and an excellent representation of the Rose de Saignée style. Galloni appreciated the wine's expressive flavors of dark red cherry, lavender, spice, blood orange, and pomegranate, which race across the palate, showcasing a strong Pinot Noir character with depth and finesse. The dosage is 4 grams per liter, and it was disgorged in June 2023.

James Suckling also praised the wine with a score of 93, describing it as a “dense rosé Champagne” with “strawberry fruit and mineral undertones, as well as cooked peaches.” He noted the full-bodied profile, with an abundance of fruit and a spicy, minerally finish.

Wine Spectator offered a 91 score, highlighting a “firm and tightly meshed” composition, with flavors of blackberry clafoutis, wild cherry, smoke, and red licorice. The mouthwatering, minerally finish adds to its appeal, and it is suggested to be enjoyed now through 2026.

Jeb Dunnuck also rated it 91, remarking on its pink/cherry color and ripe, inviting nose. Audrey Frick noted its medium-bodied, broad-shouldered structure with a fluffy expanding mousse, ideal for enjoyment over the next few years.
