Domaine Fourrier’s 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Les Goulots Vieilles Vignes is a Pinot Noir from a cool, high-elevation Premier Cru site at the northern edge of Gevrey-Chambertin, near Les Champeaux and Combe aux Moines. Fourrier’s parcel is small—about one-third of a hectare—planted in 1966, and the domaine’s broader approach emphasizes old vines, careful hand harvesting, strict sorting, and extended élevage on fine lees without racking. Listed alcohol is about 13.5%.

In 2019, the critics largely agree on a wine that combines concentration with restraint. William Kelley (Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate) rates it an excellent 94 points, highlighting “aromas of plums, loamy soil and creamy new oak” and describing a “medium to full-bodied, fleshy and elegantly enveloping” palate that remains “deep and precise,” with a “seamless, youthfully reserved profile.” He concludes, “Pure and penetrating, this is another success chez Fourrier.”

Burghound is similarly positive at an excellent 94 points, finding it “more elegant and airier” than some peers, with a “cooler array of plum, red and dark raspberry, soft floral wisps and a hint of the sauvage.” The note emphasizes detail over weight: “sleek, delicious and intense medium weight flavors” with “excellent delineation,” and “the sneaky long finish is chiseled.” Burghound adds a useful benchmark, calling it “not as rich as the Cherbaudes,” but “markedly finer and more mineral-driven.”

Jasper Morris (Inside Burgundy) is a touch more cautious at 93, praising a “very appealing…sweet dark style” bouquet and “darker berry” fruit, while noting the palate was “not quite so together at this stage,” with “slightly firmer tannins behind,” and that the sample “seems a touch less fresh.” Even so, he suggests it may ultimately “join its 4 star brethren,” pointing to strong potential with bottle age.
