Jonata’s 2021 Todos is an estate red blend from Ballard Canyon in Santa Ynez Valley, built around Syrah and made in a deliberately expansive, “kitchen sink” style that pulls from varieties planted on the property. The confirmed blend is 66% Syrah, 18% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Petite Sirah and 2% Merlot, bottled at 14.9% ABV and aged for 20 months in 30% new French oak, with winemaker Matt Dees overseeing the release.
Across reviews, Todos reads as a powerful, dark-fruited wine with a strong savory dimension. Jeb Dunnuck (93 points) calls it a “Syrah-heavy kitchen sink blend,” highlighting “pure blackberries, spring flowers, freshly ground pepper, leather, and graphite,” and describes it as “ripe, powerful, structured” with the suggestion it “needs 2-3 years of bottle age” and should “evolve gracefully” thereafter (drink 2025–2036). That sense of stature is echoed by Vinous’ Antonio Galloni in an excellent 93-point review: “Todos is a very serious wine, in fact the 2021 might be the best Todos ever,” praising its “remarkable depth and intensity” and noting that Syrah’s “wild, meaty personality… really dominates the blend at this stage,” adding, “Best of all, Todos remains a fabulous value.”
The highest score comes from James Suckling at 94 points—an excellent review—framing it as “a big, gorgeous and full-bodied wine,” “so dark, deep and robust,” with “blackberry, black cherry, blueberry and chocolate accents,” concluding simply: “Drink or hold.”
Decanter (93 points) shifts the lens toward perfume and texture, citing pomegranate, cherry, “red liquorice,” vanilla, “grilled herbs, and lilacs,” with “velvety tannins,” a slate-like coolness, and a “tart, dry finish,” calling the overall effect “elegance, depth, and a harmonious balance of fruit and savoury elements.” Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate (92 points) finds it “fascinating… fun, serious and perplexing,” with “intense, complex” aromatics—“burning incense and asphalt”—and a palate that is “extraordinarily dense,” finishing “lavish yet savory” with “grippy, drying tannins.”
