L’Aventure’s 2022 Estate Reserve is the Paso Robles estate’s flagship red, and from 2022 onward it replaces the former “Estate Cuvée” name. This is a deeply colored, full-bodied wine built around ripe fruit, spice, and a firm but polished structure. The Wine Palate (97) calls it “deep garnet-purple,” with “plum pudding, juicy blackberries, and raspberry pie,” then “cinnamon stick, tilled soil… and lavender oil,” finishing “long and flamboyant.” Dunnuck (97) emphasizes perfume and detail—“cassis and black raspberry fruits, ground pepper, violets, graphite, and hints of chalky minerality”—and says it will be “one of the longer-lived wines in the vintage.”

Other excellent reviews echo that blend of richness and freshness. James Suckling (97) highlights savory tones—“black olives, dried herbs and game meat”—and describes it as “Incredibly complex and masterfully constructed,” advising it’s “best from 2028.” Decanter (96) finds it “so pure, crystalline, detailed,” with “oyster shell and graphite” minerality and “amazing potential,” though “still young…tightly coiled.” Vinous (95) focuses on texture and balance, praising “crushed velvet,” “super-fine tannins,” and “remarkable” balance, tapering to “minty freshness.” Overall, it reads as a serious, cellar-worthy Paso Robles blend with both power and precision.
