Jacquesson is a champagne house with land holdings in two main areas - the Grande Vallee de la Marne (Ay, Dizy, Hautvillers) and the Cote des Blancs (Avize and Oiry). 80% of their grapes are estate, the rest coming from neighbors located in the same Crus. Traditional growing techniques and manual harvesting is practiced. Vinification is carried out in oak casks to allow the wine to breathe. Fermentation usually lasts for three to four months.

In addition to four single vineyard wines, Champagne Jacquesson, produces the Cuvee 700 range- blended wine coming from their three Grand Crus and two Premier Crus holdings. There is also a Cuvee 700 Degorgement Tardif which is aged for nine years before release.

The 2009 Jacquesson Avize Grand Cru Extra-Brut is a transcendent example of the elegance and refinement that can be achieved with the Champagne Blend varietal. Hailing from the renowned Champagne region of France, this exquisite white wine is the product of the meticulous and devoted viticulture of the Jacquesson estate.

On the nose, this Grand Cru Extra-Brut greets you with an enticing bouquet of pear, blanched almonds, freshly baked bread, and mandarin, a testament to the rich aromatic complexity of this wine. It is further enhanced by intriguing notes of petrol, apricot, dried flowers, orchard fruit, orange confit, honey and marzipan, painting a vivid olfactory picture for the discerning oenophile.

Upon tasting, the wine reveals a medium to full-bodied palate, conveying a pillowy and precise mouthfeel. The elegance and refinement are unmistakable, buoyed by a pinpoint mousse and discreet depth at the core. The finish is long and chalky, indicative of the terroir's strong minerality and the wine's beautifully balanced minimal dosage.

The 2009 Jacquesson Avize Grand Cru Extra-Brut also showcases a delectable profile of rich citrus and toast flavors, balanced by a mature and beautifully integrated acidity. This 100% Chardonnay wine is further complemented by a sumptuous palate of mint and anise, pear and peach, and floral and mineral tones.

This wine is a remarkable testament to the Jacquesson's commitment to crafting an exceptional single-vineyard wine that captures the unique richness of the vintage and the clean, mineral inflections of the Avize terroir. It possesses an arresting intensity without compromising on its striking translucence. It's a big wine, but with plenty of complexity, making it a compelling choice for even the most discerning palate.
