Tablas Creek’s 2024 Esprit de Tablas Blanc (formerly Esprit de Beaucastel Blanc) is the estate’s flagship white blend from the Adelaida District of Paso Robles. Built on Rhône varieties originally sourced from Château de Beaucastel cuttings, it’s a six-grape blend of 40% Roussanne, 26% Grenache Blanc, 17% Picpoul Blanc, 11% Bourboulenc, 3% Picardan and 3% Clairette Blanche. Alcohol is a notably moderate 12.5%, with 1,815 cases produced. The wine was blended and returned to foudre in April 2025, aged eight months in foudre, bottled in December 2025, then held four months before release.
The 2024 season shaped both intensity and freshness: Tablas Creek reports a wet winter followed by a very warm July and a compressed harvest, with yields about 20% below average. Those low yields show up in the Wine Advocate’s note that the wine “contains nearly all of the estate’s Picpoul and Bourboulenc due to the season’s low white wine yields” (Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate). That same review is an excellent one, rating it 95 (93–95 in-barrel), praising a “fragrant nose of apricot, orange blossoms, spice and wet stones” and a palate that is “broad and gourmand yet retains exceptional poise and clarity.”
Vinous also delivers an excellent review at 95 points, with Eric Guido calling it “zesty and deeply spiced,” “deeply textural, silken and pliant,” and finishing “long,” with “honeyed floral resonance.” Importantly, Guido adds that while it’s already compelling, it “has the balance to age effortlessly.”
Wine Enthusiast (93 points) emphasizes how the wine combines presence and lift, noting “lemon blossom and lightly hued honey aromas,” and a palate that is “hefty in weight though fresh in flavor,” with “round stonefruit set against a rocky minerality” (Matt Kettmann).
Wine Spectator (91 points) takes a drink-now view, highlighting a “fresh and juicy core of pineapple, mirabelle plum and Eureka lemon” with “spice details on the refreshing finish.”
